Hi everyone! Happy (almost) Halloween! Today, we will be talking all about Google Classroom. One of my favorite things about Google Classroom is that it is so user-friendly. One of our resources this week gave extremely detailed instructions on how to get started creating your Classroom. I found it incredibly helpful, especially since in our technology class, we will be creating our very own Google Classroom! Hi all! Back again so soon! This week we had so much to discuss, it had to be broken down in to two different blog posts! All of our resources this week were incredibly interesting, however, the ones that really stuck out to me were the articles discussing multiple-choice tests. I had never really considered how much work must go in to how precise the wording in multiple-choice tests should be. Usually, when you hear the phrase “multiple-choice” you would usually think that would make things easier, but that is not always the case. Sometimes, the phrasing in these questions actually makes it much harder to choose the correct answer. I found the list of “rules” for writing multiple-choice questions to be extremely helpful! I especially liked the rule that stated to “make all distractors plausible”. When I was in high school, I never quite understood why on a multiple-choice test, one of the options for an answer would be something like “Bart Simpson”. I get that this was the teacher...

                Hey everyone!  I have grown up in a generation where using social media is a social norm and it is almost expected that every person you come across has some sort of social media accounts. When you meet someone, it is rarely “Hi can I have your phone number?”, but most likely “Add me on Facebook” or “Hey! What’s your Snapchat?” Social Media can be an amazing way to communicate with others, but sometimes it is used in ways that is disrespectful towards others. Good afternoon everybody! When I was a child, and even still today, I loved being told stories and reading stories. Fantasy has always been my favorite because it tells about things that I could never experience in the real world. While hearing a fantasy story, I could escape reality for even just a little while and enter a completely new world. For as long as I can remember, I also loved hearing and learning about different myths and all about mythology. I think it is such an amazing way to make sense of things that happen in nature and provided creative explanations as to why things are the way they are. I even loved hearing stories from my grandparents about their childhoods and how different things were back then. The power of storytelling is so incredible and oftentimes passed down from generation to generation. Hi everyone! Happy October, I hope you all had an amazing week! This week, we read resources about all of the different types of assistive technology. I find it absolutely amazing how many different websites and platforms are so accommodating to so many different types of people! One of the resources that I found to be particularly interesting is that you can translate is Google Sheets. This is a great idea because, not only does it allow students who have English as a second language to learn translations, but it also teaches them a new and creative way to use technology as a resource. I think it is incredibly helpful that this resource doesn’t just explain how to go about using Google Sheets as a translator, but also includes a demonstration. It is extremely user friendly! This week, we spent a lot of time discussing how twitter could be used, not just for personal use, but also as a Personal Learning Network. Using Twitter as a PLN is an amazing way to stay connected and stay up to date with the outside world. The use of hashtags also makes finding certain topics incredibly convenient and allows all of the information to be sorted easily. After just one week, I can already tell this is going to be an incredibly useful platform to find countless educational posts!
